Summer would not be complete without some glass eye-candy for my soul. An afternoon at Lommel’s GlazenHuis – a very unusual glass museum, expo and workshop – gives much soul food for thought.
As you wander, take in the space, light, reflections, colour and form, and breathe in as you gaze up into the spire and feel it’s casting shadow. The workshops are mesmerising too…
The invited glass artist exhibitors bring some interesting delights for your eyes; I had the pleasure of seeing pieces by Richard Meitner, Petr Stanicky and the brothers Jamex and Einar De La Torre.
I couldn’t help but love the work of Meitner and the De La Torre brothers!
And then onto Achel Brewery not too far away. Of course, a beer tasting was on the cards, and an Achel ice-cream preceded by the brewery’s bread and cheese… more Yums!

Mmm, beer!
That was the simple bruin but the stronger varieties, which you can find in the specialist beer stores, are sadly not on tap at the Kluis itself.
I guess the folks at Achel don’t want to be hearing about any accidents involving drunk pensioners on touring bikes.
Mmmm, glass!
And ice-cream, beer, cheese…. 😉
