… at the ‘Burning Man’ Decompression party!

Serpent aglow!

Serpent aglow!

For the uninitiated this party sounds like something from the 1973 movie ‘The Wicker Man’ and the 1989 movie ‘The Abyss… Even I imagined an intoxicated straw monster burning bright under a nitric oxide bubbling sunset.

A beautiful sight to behold indeed, yet it remained sand through my hands to understand what this was truly about. And then I met these beautiful people 🙂

So you can guess this is no ordinary party, and there are no ordinary people here. This is a celebration to share joy, love and be in harmony, and it invites you to do this in the most imaginative and loving ways.

This was the first time I entered a venue with hugs all around – yes, they have wonderful wholesome folks whose job is to hug everyone as they arrive! – and yes, there were many compliments from staff awaiting the guests whose costumes and smiles were mutually admired.

Within just a few minutes, my serpent costume was hissing in happiness!

Well, my sister and I learned many years ago that the whole process of costume preparation is a major aspect of partying and building up joy momentum. We also know that if you want something more unique you’ll have to master the sewing machine, visit the haberdashers and get online shopping, not to mention the joys of glue guns and rubbery animals!

On this occasion, we unwittingly found ourselves to be the unlikely pairing of the Unicorn (my soeur) and the Serpent (moi), which also happens to be an interesting tale of two polarities trying to become friends, or at least see eye to eye, quite literally!

There were many components brought together for each costume, but here are a few secret parts for my serpent attire.
