A few days after arriving in London, I was gifted with a wonderful get-together with G and her beau Mr A (flown in from Strasbourg) and her friend D who has lived in London for 7 years already.  We met at Tate Modern for a good chinwag, along with ma soeur and art buddy JN.

Chatting with friends, I quickly discovered that London has become very inter-planetary… way beyond just international! The foreign residents through the passage of time have morphed their own special “London DNA” making this part of the world something very unusual. It feels amazing though, and certainly a nice change from Brussels in terms of architecture and city ambiance 🙂

As for the Tate Modern, this is a joy to wander around. Malevich and Matisse are the special expos at the moment, and I’ll return shortly to see these along with the all the other great art galleries 🙂 I have the luxury of time to take it all in now; not so rushed like the crammed tourist weekends!

Wandering along the Southbank is one of my favourite strolls. So much to see by the Thames riverside, with lots of places to chill out and enjoy a drink with tasty morsels. Everyone seems pretty happy, despite the slight overcast weather!
I did notice a deep moody blue come over the skyline as we headed towards London Bridge and Borough Market…

A day or so later ma soeur et moi headed to the olde worlde boutiques near the British Museum in search of blue inks. A good artist friend had recommended Blades for our purpose and we found what we needed, and more 🙂

Ma soeur is quite a driver around London – very zippy and sassy! It takes a special kind of attention to drive these streets day and night, with 360 degrees eyesight and rapid reaction… cyclists and map-reading tourists seem to be the most vulnerable on the roads!

I especially love the night lights in London. The window-dressing of the large stores is always a fascination…

On Sunday nights in St Margarets there is a 50-question pub quiz with prizes. I enjoyed two Duvel beers with a packet of Tyrells crisps whilst taxing my grey cells! We didn’t win the quiz, but at least attained a respectable score!

I blame the Belgian beer…. 😉

The evening ended with the quiz master being dared to take the “Ice Bucket Challenge“, which he braved at midnight with Buddha-like calm. After this spectacle, we sipped our hot cuppa teas indoors!

    Hey J

Glad to see you have a picture of my favourite camera shop – Aperture Photographic! 🙂

    • 😀 I had a feeling this was your fave shop! They’re Hasselblad specialists… I took Mr P there last weekend for a coffee and choc cookie, after we had a cool tour of the British Museum. Really nice cafe (and eye candy cameras!)
