My sister and I swept into Camden one afternoon this week to seek out some unusual garb for an up-and-coming event requiring some ingenious design and drama 😉

Stepping out into Camden’s high street took me back in time to the days I’d sought out gothic garb for my student days and fetishy parties. The façades hadn’t changed too much, and pubs such as ‘The World’s End‘ still stood boldly, but inside the shops things seemed way too mainstream for me (even today, when I’m much less visually Gothicky!). However, whilst the high street may be an illusion of alternative funk, the Stables Market and Camden Lock area are far more fascinating 🙂

Inside the labyrinth of Stables Market, the jewel for me is Cyberdog. I gained time inside this happy glowing Spage-Age cyber-punky wonderland, with so much stuff to look at, so many chats with very friendly knowledgeable staff, and amazing installation art from floor to ceiling. There is something about the soft glows of LEDs that calm the soul yet work perfectly to the frequencies of electronic music designed to make your heart dance 🙂

My sister and I exited a few hours later… with a nice yellow Cyberdog bag each and grinning from head to toe 😉

Open for some dining? Gilgamesh comes recommended 🙂

Gilgamesh... the bar, resto & club. I wonder if Ishtar is welcome...

I was happy to see one of my fave places still here too, the Electric Ballroom. As we passed by, I remembered a beautiful moment in 1996 dancing to the voice of Annie Lennox’s “Sweet Dreams” whilst whirling amongst the most beautifully dressed vampires in London… and obviously dancing in the arms of a gorgeous one 🙂  He knows who he is!  😉

An old haunt for vamps... the wonderful Electric Ballroom!

On a slightly less attractive musical note, DJ Gramps entertains the crowds as they exit the tube station…

…this is pretty cool, actually!
